This book is the book of the month for Jenna’s book club so I gave it a go。 The story of two friends with you normal chaotic marriage, demanding career and mid life crisis。 It was ok I felt like it just went in circles and the interesting story lines weren’t fully developed。

Lifelong friends and secrets, who doesn’t love a story with real life problems。 Two lifelong friends and their husbands create Good Company by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney。 The friends come from different worlds and yet end up in the same school。 One is from Queens and one is from Manhattan。 Their differences aren’t too great and they are able to forge a friendship。 Both find themselves to be young actress’s and one is better than the other。 Flora and Margot are the heart of the story。 Flora then mar Lifelong friends and secrets, who doesn’t love a story with real life problems。 Two lifelong friends and their husbands create Good Company by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney。 The friends come from different worlds and yet end up in the same school。 One is from Queens and one is from Manhattan。 Their differences aren’t too great and they are able to forge a friendship。 Both find themselves to be young actress’s and one is better than the other。 Flora and Margot are the heart of the story。 Flora then marries Julian, also an actor & Margot marries David a cardiac surgeon。 As the years go by, each friend’s life has highs and lows and their friendship is the glue that keeps things together。 They cross cross the country for acting work, summer in Larchmont NY for summer stock and think that the others life is some how better than the other’s。 Then a deep secret comes to light and the author shows how friendship and secrets don’t always mix and can some secrets just be too big to heal from? I loved The Nest, by D’Aprix Sweeney。 To compare the two is not even possible apples to oranges。 The author can tell a very descriptive, story and her characters are so good。 I enjoyed this story a lot but there were parts that seemed to be over kill。 But it is an excellent example of friends, different lifestyles and social standings and how to overcome and hold on to that friendship。 This was a four star read for me。 I have shared this book on my Instagram page and shared my review as well。 As always I am so glad I got this ARC from Netgalley and the author。 。。。more

I really wanted to love this, it’s a strong like for me, but I won’t be raving about it to my friends。

Louise Udall,
I was so excited when I saw this book because I loved The Nest。 Unfortunately for me wasn’t nearly as engaging。 I found myself racing through it just to be done with it。I don’t think I would pass along to any of my friends like I usually do。 Its just kind of blah in my humble opinion。
Tina,
When Flora finds her husband's missing wedding ring in an envelope at the bottom of a file cabinet, long held secrets are exposed that change the way Flora views her marriage and friendship。 Sweeney's novel is character driven and I loved learning the backstory of the characters as things unfolded。 When Flora finds her husband's missing wedding ring in an envelope at the bottom of a file cabinet, long held secrets are exposed that change the way Flora views her marriage and friendship。 Sweeney's novel is character driven and I loved learning the backstory of the characters as things unfolded。 。。。more
Brie,
Very well written, bittersweet and introspective, this story looks at how one small discovery can change everything。 When Flora finds her husbands ring that he supposedly lost years before, she suddenly realizes that she can’t take anything for granted and must re-evaluate her life and choices。 A good read。
Cindy H。,
Audio#MoreMehThanYeah #BorrowNotBuy I guess I had high hopes, as I really enjoyed The Nest。 An ok read/listen but nothing to get excited about。 Something was off。 The characters actions didn’t feel believable。 I had a hard time accepting a lot of the decisions and actions。 Definitely disappointing。
Dawn Sitter,
It took me a little bit to get into this book。 Once I got into it, I was hooked。 The story kept me interested。 It was real life。 It was things that people go through everyday。I really thought it was going one way and it went a different way。 I enoyed it。
Jodi Golis,
Secrets, lies, betrayal, forgiveness, pride, selfish and self-absorbed tendencies。 Can you get past it? And how?Flora finds her husband’s wedding band 13 years after he claimed to lose it while swimming in a pond。 I really liked reading through the flashbacks and memories by each character。 It was interesting to learn about the choices they made and the thought process behind their decisions。 Who were they thinking about in their decisions? Who would benefit or be hurt if they made other choices Secrets, lies, betrayal, forgiveness, pride, selfish and self-absorbed tendencies。 Can you get past it? My favorite line in the novel was, “She’d lost her husband and her best friend and couldn’t figure out which one she wanted back first - if she wanted them back at all。” I found the resolution extremely satisfying, even though it wasn’t wrapped up with a bow。 Thanks to Goodreads for this fantastic giveaway win! 。。。more

Sandra,
Good Company is a story about marriage, friendship, parenting, illness, infidelity, self awareness and how little and very big secrets can upend seemingly happy relationships and moments。 The book does jump back and forth between what happened then and what's happening now and I enjoy dual timelines。 I did not like this author's first book "The Nest" but I did enjoy this audiobook narrated by Marin Ireland (I'll be looking for more she's done)。 I like the book title, it not only was the name of Good Company is a story about marriage, friendship, parenting, illness, infidelity, self awareness and how little and very big secrets can upend seemingly happy relationships and moments。 The book does jump back and forth between what happened then and what's happening now and I enjoy dual timelines。 I did not like this author's first book "The Nest" but I did enjoy this audiobook narrated by Marin Ireland (I'll be looking for more she's done)。 I like the book title, it not only was the name of the theatre company at the heart of the book but also it makes you think about who in your life you would consider "good company" especially when you think of the much paraphrased saying "you are known by the company you keep"。 Are you in good or bad company? 。。。more
Jill,
A quiet, thoughtful and extremely well-written domestic drama。

Aaryn,
I loved this character-driven novel about family。 Fantastic on audio!
Kara Primaveri,
Disappointing bookThe premise of this book sounded interesting。 A wife finds her husbands wedding ring that was “lost” 15 years ago。 What follows is a rumination on middle age。 The characters are unlikeable, the story is boring and predictable。 Save your money
Shannon Gutowski,
Hmmm I feel like this book had so much potential。 I couldn’t connect with the characters。 It was a story about life, but nothing riveting。 I kept waiting for the climax that never really happened。
Korra,
The books are totally deserving。 I loved them, and I think they must be read。 If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on Novel Star, just submit your story to hardy@novelstar。top or joye@novelstar。top
Sarah S,
3。5 This is a very slow thoughtful novel about marriage and secrets。 While I preferred her debut The Nest to this book I did find the writing absolutely gorgeous。 There are passages that I would read and read again because they were written so beautifully and truthful。
Julie,
I have never cared less about characters in a book。
Shelli Young,
As a Jenna pick of the month I was expecting more。 I saw low ratings for this book so I was prepared。 I am not a fan of non linear timelines。 And this one sure does jump all over the place。 I can’t really say much for this book, as I struggled to read and finish。 It’s more like 2。5 stars just because it had a beautiful cover。
Marsha,
Wonderful, intimate character study which some might find slow, but I love this genre。 We see the relationships between friends and spouses evolve through the years and during difficult situations, and it all felt very real to me。 Some great behind-the-scenes moments in the lives of actors, too。
Pam Wilks,
An easy-breezy quick audio to listen to。 I love Marin Ireland, the narrator。 Sweet story, realistic and entertaining。
Linda Beilstein,
Borrowed from library。 Story about a married couple who appears to be happy until the wife finds the husband's wedding ring that he said he lost in a lake。 She finds it in an envelope in a filing cabinet in the garage。 When she confronts him, what he confesses to sends her on a journey to explore how she wants the rest of her life to turn out。 Pretty good story。 Was a Read with Jenna pick for April 2021。 Borrowed from library。 Story about a married couple who appears to be happy until the wife finds the husband's wedding ring that he said he lost in a lake。 She finds it in an envelope in a filing cabinet in the garage。 When she confronts him, what he confesses to sends her on a journey to explore how she wants the rest of her life to turn out。 Pretty good story。 Was a Read with Jenna pick for April 2021。 。。。more

Not for me at all。 Never felt/liked the characters, didn’t like the side stories。About Flora, Julian, Margot and David。 Oh yeah the kid, Ruby。 Would have loved to hear more about Josephine (Flora’s mom)。
Jennifer Shank,
Read The Nest。。。didn't love it。 This beautiful cover and the plot lured me in。 Started out ok but then dtug on。 Hard to follow the alternating characters and timeline。 Didn't like the characters。 Ending felt rushed and unresolved for me。 Read The Nest。。。didn't love it。 This beautiful cover and the plot lured me in。 Started out ok but then dtug on。 Hard to follow the alternating characters and timeline。 Didn't like the characters。 Ending felt rushed and unresolved for me。 。。。more

Thank you so very much to the publisher and NetGalley for a free, electronic ART of this novel in exchange for an honest review。 I was so excited to read Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's book “Good Company” because of the amazing things I heard about her debut novel, “The Nest。” The beginning automatically captivated me, “where did the ring come from!” was what I wanted to know and kept me reading。 However, instead, I ultimately found Good Company moving at a pace inconsistent with its premise and char Thank you so very much to the publisher and NetGalley for a free, electronic ART of this novel in exchange for an honest review。 I was so excited to read Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's book “Good Company” because of the amazing things I heard about her debut novel, “The Nest。” The beginning automatically captivated me, “where did the ring come from!” was what I wanted to know and kept me reading。 However, instead, I ultimately found Good Company moving at a pace inconsistent with its premise and characters with unlikeable personalities in which I found myself unable to get behind or root for。 I found the author’s unique writing style of time jumps and narrator switching to be more confusing than captivating。 I would argue that some of the flashbacks were just added fluff and thus made it even harder to build any connections with any of the characters。 Overall, the theme of forgiveness was apparent throughout the novel and really got me thinking - I wish it was dug into more。 I am ultimately happy I read it, and got to experience something from this author based on her previous reviews。 。。。more
